I took the one-hour guided tour of this huge cathedral in the Morningside section of Manhattan and found it utterly fascinating. While the nave is huge (over 600 feet long----183 m), the transept is nearly non-existent, since that is where the building is most unfinished. Nonetheless, one gets a great orientation to the buiding's interior from the guided tour. Our... More

Largest Cathedral in the world and an architectural wonder. Very cool place. Would love to attend a service here and listen to their organ with pipes on either side of the nave as with their choir. And if you do some exploring, you might catch a glimpse of Duke Ellington's piano. Many famous jazz musicians have had their funeral services... More

Loved the sacredness, unity, beauty of the event. Loved the way it was organized, presented and felt. It was a very beautiful event shared by all in love, respect and unity for this magnificent culture.

Sign up for the vertical tour which takes you up under the roof and gives you close up views of the butresses. The building is not nearly as elaborate as the cathedrals of Europe, so don't expect that level of rich adornment. This will be a nice place when they get it finished in another 100 years or so.

I took one of the public tours, this one at 11 AM on a weekday. Just six of us, enjoying an hour or so of well informed, detailed, entertaining commentary. A great glimpse into New York of 100 or so years ago. Thanks, Bill!

Went here for Easter Sunday Service. Beautiful church and service. The musical presentation was phenomenal. The choir and organ music was lovely. I've never seen so many bishops and clergy in an Episcopal church! It will be a masterpiece when it is completed.
