A great chance to see the legends of air, space and sea right in the heart of NYC!
Visited during out stay in New York, the first day we went the site was closed due to something about Enterprise, lots of TV crews etc. We were offered a 50% off voucher and went back the next day and I'm glad we did.
The ship is amazing, the technology behind it is incredible and the store of the ship...

Living in California and visiting the Midway Aircraft Carrier in San Diego often we were a little disappointed in the Intrepid. The planes are old and not cleaned. The aircraft carrier is also more run down and has not been as refurbished as the Midway.
One in a lifetime chance to walk around an aircraft carrier, see the Space Shuttle Enterpise (July 2012), a BA Concorde, a nuclear submarine AND loads of US aircraft. Very doable in 1.5 to 2 hours. The rides are pricey and there are always classes of kids around though.
Great for kids of all ages, from 3 to 72, lots to see & do. The space shuttle will be a great addition
It was great to see the submarine, planes and ship. A lot of interactive components and opportunities for photos. We entered 1.5hrs before close, it was rushed and we didn't have time to read everything but adequate time to see everything.
Having just gone to Smithsonian air and space museum in DC which was totally free, this museum charges usd24 for an adult. Be sure to go to its website to check for discount coupons. this can save you some bucks. the museum itself was huge with an aircraft carrier, planes and helicopters on top deck and museum with few simulator...

Amazing planes and naval history. There was a lot going on when I was there during Fleet Week. This would be a great place to take kids.
We could have easily spent a whole day at Intrepid as there was so much to see and do. Where else in the world could you go inside a real nuclear missile submarine (USS Growler) and get just an inkling of what life would have been like at sea under such cramped conditions and learn about the vital and dangerous...

If you like your planes and ships this is a must see, so many different aircraft's on display, including the SR71 Blackbird and Concorde. Just wish we had gone later in the year to see the spaceshuttle Enterprise. the Audio commentary is also fantastic as is the knowledge of the guides located around the ship.
