Although the ferry can be a bit crowded at times, it is a great way to see the Statue of Liberty and a view of lower Manhattan. The ferry ride is about 25 minutes each way - and it's free!

Running every half hour and completely free the ferry is great way to see some sites from the water and enjoy the breezes. Ferries are good sized and comfortable with side windows that open to the water. At the end you can get off at the terminal and follow the crowd looping around to get back on for the return... More

C'mon, can you really say you visited NYC without taking the Staten Island Ferry? It's an institution. Yup, it's a free trip across the harbour, and it gives you (distant) views of the Statue of Liberty. But the ferry itself is its own attraction. Don't be put off by the crowds inside the terminal. There's enough room for everyone. You... More

My husband and I decided to take a ride on the Staten Island Ferry just for the fun of it. It is something that everyone has heard of so we wanted to be able to say that we rode it. It was a lot of fun. The views of the harbor and of the Statue of Liberty are just awesome... More
