"Tasting the Immigrant Experience" was our second Context tour (the first was a spectacular walk through the Gardens of Versailles). We were fortunate to have a sunny, fairly warm day in February and our guide, Cathy Kaufman skillfully corralled the six of us through numerous shops and neighborhoods. We were treated to various tastes and tidbits of neighborhood history that... More

r2redshaw, So glad you enjoyed this food tour of New York. The tricky part of a walk like this is fitting together the experiential (tasting) with the narrative (learning) so that they complement one another. Sounds like we hit it right this time around. Vietnam is on the list of future expansion. But, probably 18-24 months away. We just opened... More

My teenage son and I did the Architecture of New York walk which takes you along most of 42 St. Apart from giving us very interesting architectural facts Matico also put everything into a social and historical context which made the rest of our time in NYC so much more interesting. Next time we'll be sure to do some of... More

Hi Eurorhino, Few people think to do this walk as an introduction to the city, but we agree with your perspective. The Highline gives us a great lens to dig into the history and built environment of the city, which pays dividends farther along as you point out. Glad you liked it. We hope to see you again. Best, Context More

We had a fabulous tour of the Meatpacking District with Context. They gave us the very reasonable group rate -- although there was only 3 of us. The women who gave the tour had an architectural background -- which provided extra context and enthusiasm for our tour. We also went on the fairly new elevated park -- and was shown... More

Dear Fracto, Thanks for sharing. We're glad that you enjoyed your walk of the High Line and Meatpacking District. This is one of our newer walks, and so it's quite valuable to get your feedback. And from a native New Yorker no less! Thanks for giving us a try in New York City. We hope to cross paths on your... More

This is the second year we have used the excellent services of Context Travel NY. For the four of us (two couples, 55-65 years old, experienced travelers) we have been highly impressed with the level of professional competance, social skills and subject knowledge of the docents. They come "fully loaded" to make the best experience possible touring the selected venues,... More

This is my first time writing a Trip Advisor review although we check this site often before booking restaurants and hotels. My husband and I engaged in the 3-hour walking tour of Central Park this past Saturday. Our guide, Matico, a Ph.D. architectural history student at NYU's Institue of Fine Arts, was a delight. He was extremely knowledgeable not only... More

My friend and I just came back from 4 days in NYC. We did 2 Context walking tours: Brooklyn and Soho/Cast Iron District. We had 2 different tour guides. My friend and I have traveled quite a bit in the US over the years and frequently taken advantage of walking tours. We found the Context tours to be fairly priced... More

We recently completed a chick trip to New York City and our Context tour at the Metropolitan Museum of Art was definitely a highlight. I have done 9 private tours with Context over the last 12 months here and in Europe. There is a reason I tour only with context and that is the knowledge and expertise of their docents.... More

We really enjoyed the walk, we found it very interesting and it was exactly what we were expecting. It is true to its word in that it was a financial history of New York City (and not of the world) which is what we wanted. Bill was especially knowledgeable and delivered the tour in great fashion and with a personal... More

Absolutely top notch guides - personablle and knowledgeable. I can't say enough about the quality of Context Tours. We visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art twice, the Morgan Library and the MOMA museum. We also took a tour of the Chelsea galleries. As Art lovers we were 100% satisfied. Very good value for our money.
