Had breakfast at the Chelsea Market and then walked a few blocks of the High Line. This former elevated rail line - now park was a wonderful respite from the busy street scene. I was literally "up and away". Beatifully landscaped and unique wood seats / chaise lounges along the way. Will go back next time I'm in NYC.

As a gardening project, this is mundane. As an experiment in urban redesign, this is fascinating. You do not need to walk the entire length of the High Line to appreciate it. After a while, it becomes a bit repetitive. Try two or three blocks to see an environment that seems totally out of place with its surroundings. The views... More

Do something else! Go to Gansevort street (little 12th) in Meatpacking District and climb the stairs up to this old railway trail which has successfully been converted into a park "trail" all the way to the 30th Street. Walk along this awesome park, look around and enjoy this new type of park! There are plenty of benches along the trail... More

This park offers a fabulous perspective of lower Manhattan. Go on a week day when it is is not too hot or too cold. We spent a couple of hours walking and sitting and taking it all in, beautful landscaping and interesting features along the way. Went down into Chelsea Market for coffee and cookies. I liked that it wasn't... More

I think this is one of New York's most brilliant ideas. I love this park for it's serenity above the city and it's a great walking trail. You can leave the trail and take the steps down into the city in several areas, including a quick stop at the Chelsea Market.

As well as visiting this alone, came here with friends with two four year old children. It's very nice to have somewhere to walk that's above the line of the traffic, and has lots of grassy areas to sit on. Be warned that it's quite exposed - in the harsh sunlight of a summer's day, it can feel a little... More

The High Line Rail Park is a novel project within the city of NY that should be revered and emulated elsewhere. We were very impressed by this relatively new attraction to NYC, having visited it for the first time on our recent trip to NYC. Now, we have high enthusiasm for the place and are eager to return so that... More

Strolling through beautiful flowers at 3rd story height through downtown NYC is a unique, wonderful experience. Gorgeous, quiet, imaginative--and with plenty of places to sit--this is one of the greatest urban parks in the world.
