I wouldn't venture up here if you are a tourist that just wants to see the well touristed sites. Nice, quiet park next to the East river with a great view across to Queens, used mainly by locals for walking, jogging, exercising the dog.
Apparently the house near the entrance is where the mayor of NYC always lived, though I don't think recent mayors have used it as their home.
There's not much else in this residential area, but...

While I was here in 2004 this was one of my favorite spots near where I was staying. I bought a cup of coffee and sat on a bench or walked the paved path along the East River every morning I was there. This is a great park that runs alongside the east river on the upper east side. If I were a tourist, I don't think that I would go up there, though. It's really nice, but not really much else to see up there.
