I try to get to Pearl River Mart whenever I'm in New York. They stock a very wide range of housewares, home decor, food items imported from China and other points east, gorgeous clothing, toys - the list is almost endless! They have a fantastic selection of dishes, mugs, teapots, rice bowls, plates. It's a terrific place to buy gifts...

Large asian store with the service we never experienced in Asian stores before. The crowded place where clay pots and mugs are all stock on one another. The person next to me dropped the lid from the mug and left, the store personnel screamed at me and made me pay for the broken mug.

This is my favorite shopping spot in NY. While I like Chinatown, it is a bit seedy and much of the merchandise is crap. However, if you travel a few blocks North, you'll find Pearl RIver and it is everything you'd hoped--lots of great items, great prices and the store is huge--and could take you several hours if you're into...
