The inside museum, consisting of several galleries, is self-guided and has a great variety of historical displays and exhibits. Currently (as of April 2012), they have a Gone With The Wind exhibit up with some neat memorabilia form the movie and book, costumes, props, and some fascinating history, even if you are not a Gone With The Wind fan (which...

The architecture is really beautiful and a perfect place for enjoying the art exhibits they have on display. There's historic buildings that we viewed, but did not take the tour [no time], but they are a part of historic Little Rock that is fascinating and educational. Loved it!
A small museum, but with lovely exhibits and a great museum store.
we liked the variety of things, and the information about them. We forget what things were like until we see thins like this.
We were driving to River Market for lunch on our way back through Little Rock and noticed the old buildings. After lunch we decided to go take a look - well it was Monday so home/building tours were not open but a very nice man was in balcsmith shop and he offered to let us on grounds to look in...

I actually visited this museum twice in the same day, first to see the exhibit "Reel to Real," which contrasted the Civil War as presented in Gone with the Wind with the war as Arkansans actually experienced it. This charming site combined interpreted history with interesting exhibits about many aspects of Arkansas history. The interpreters clearly enjoy what they do, and the blacksmith is especially informative. The building is architecturally lovely, as well. Most things are free, and the interpreted grounds are only $2.50 a person. A nice way to spend a few hours while in town.
The historic buildings on site are such a treat! It always feel like a walk through time.
