My husband and I only had one day to sightsee Philadelphia and all it's historic radiance. We were having a wonderful time despite the rain and cold weather. My advice to everyone who plans on visiting Philadelphia's Independence Hall is to NOT park underneath the Visitor's Center. Although it may be convenient, the hassle of dealing with the Parking Company's... more

It is not so much the site, but what happened here that makes it memorable. That a group of men with such differing political views and interests could come to a mutual agreement of such magnitude in political and personal risk is truly amazing. The current political climate (2009) emphasizes how difficult that must have been. more

The tickets to independence hall are free, but you do have to pick them up before going on the tour. Tickets can be picked up at the Independence Hall Vistors Center starting at 8:30am the day of the tour. Try to get there right at 8:30 or you may not get the time that you are looking for. On really... more

Independence Hall - and the entire mall area - are a true attraction. Since I was a kid they have added walking tours, audio & video presentations and a very cool nighttime trip through history. Simply sitting in the park behind the Hall can give you chills knowing that Revolutionary soldiers sat in the same grass looking at the same... more

When I think about the collection of people who assembled at Independence Hall, it was exciting and chilling. The work done by these early Americans not only formed this country - it also changed the world. I have also visited Independence Hall at Washington on the Brazos, Texas - not quite as impressive, but still meaningful to Texans. Independence Hall... more

My husband and I visited Philadelphia for a weekend in spring 2008. That was just enough time to visit the historical sites, shop and enjoy delicious meals at the local restaurants and pubs. Don't miss the waterfront veterans monuments. Getting around the town is easy with a map, we parked the car at the hotel and walked or took a... more

I live about 1 hour from Independence Hall and it one of my favorite places to visit. I never grow tired of the Philadelphia Historical Area, including Independence Hall. May be it is just me, but no matter how many times I visit, I still feel the presence of those who formed our country. Make sure you go the Visitors... more

I was lucky (or unlucky) enough to visit in 1995 or so, when it was undergoing renovations. This meant that it was in a bit of disarray, but it also meant that some of the ropes and so forth were down, so you could actually walk into areas I suspect typically are inaccessible. At the time it had the same... more

This is the birthplace of America and time & technology have not obscured that fact. Philadelphia takes great pride in its historical buildings and has preserved quite a lot of them. There are still cobblestone streets in some places! While there's quite a bit of history to see around the Independence Hall area, the hall itself has a tour and... more
