Check out the medieval weaponry. It really gave you a connection with history as you imagine someone wearing that suit of armor.

Leave your self plenty of time to cover all the great stuff. And take your time when you're there. There is such a wide variety in many rooms. You've got to see it all.

After getting your photo taken with the Rocky statue on the right side of the main steps, run up them and do the Rocky dance! Then see works of great artists that are rarely seen in art books or classes. Reviewers below suffered the disorder of the Van Gogh exhibit that already left town, but that is typical of any... More

Great collections and displays. I had limited time during my visit so I was unable to enjoy the experience as I would like.

Always love the Philadelphia Museum of Art - great for families with older children. We took the free tour this time and it was very informative and we learned many things we didn't know. Kids will love the Asian art, as they have some actual temple pieces erected. Also the armory is a big draw. My personal favorite is the... More

Fine ARts museum-lovers should not miss this. It has wonderful collections (most of them assembled in the 1800's, when Philly ruled), well-displayed...best of all, it is never crowded and you can get nose-to-nose with the objects. Serene, rich, and not to be missed.

We visited during a great Van Gogh exhibit but the time before there was only a pretty good Ben Franklin exhibit and to my untutored eye the museum is not as top heavy with masterpieces as you would expect from such a distinguished City.

The Philadelphia Museum of Art is a well kept secret compared to so many other museums of its size. It has a wonderful collection - I've always loved coming f 2 f with Goya's Toreador -- he'll look you right in the eye every time! There is always more to see than time to see it in. Start early to... More

The Philadelphia Museum of Art did it again. Another outstanding exhibit - "Van Gogh Up Close". Van Gogh's works should truly be experienced up close, just as Van Gogh depicted nature in vivid detail, up close and very personal, and this exhibit was all that and then some. Viewing the reflections from the brush strokes was almost magical and was... More
