I stood in awe looking at the rooms where Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence. I also enjoyed the five minute introductory video. If you like to see where famous people lived and did important things, you will like this house and should visit it. If you don't care about this sort of thing, there are MANY other places... More

“See the house that the declaration of independence was written”

The Graf house or declaration house is at 6th and market st. It is a reproduction of the original house which was demolished in 1888. On the second floor is a reproduction of Jefferson's bedroom and study in which he wrote the declaration. Price is free and it is open from 12-4

You wouldn't go to see this on its own, but if you are in the historical area in Philadelphia, you can stop by to get an additional glimpse of history

An important piece of history. The guides are well-informed and extremely intelligent. I would definitely suggest a visit! I just wish there was more to do here...

So the actual house that Jefferson wrote the Declaration in stood beside of the official building you'll visit. One of the neatest parts, to me as a writer, was the blown up copy of his edited draft.
