I happened to be VERY fortunate to catch the modernism exhibit featuring Georgia O' Keefe and Charles Sheeler to name a few. It was fantastic. It was great to see some masterpieces. The Cummer is an excellent museum with a varied art collection which is worth at least a few hours to see. It backs up to the St. Johns River with wonderful gardens and a lovely setting. more

This terrific museum has something for everyone. First, the actual museum part is impressive, with huge paintings and a good varity of things. It is a nice collection. My partner and I joined the Cummer when we first moved to JAX in May. We love this museum. It is small (comparable to the Gardner Museum in Boston) but always feels bright and airy, never dark and claustrophic like the Gardner.
