My husband and I were visiting Baltimore on a Saturday in October. We had only planned to spend two hours at the Walters Art Museum but wound up spending the entire day at this lovely museum. Excellent collections. The docent was most informative and entertaining as she took us through the heroes of mythology exhibit. Free admission, nice cafe and... more

Decided to stop by the museum based on several of the reviews on tripadvisor - went at museum opening on Sunday morning. We were able to walk through the exhibits on our own pace since the museum was not busy at all. Even though I don't particularly like art (especially paintings), I was very interested in several of the exhibits... more

This is a really fantastic museum with a lot of great artwork. It has a nice variety of different styles from different cultures and time periods. I personally enjoyed the art from ancient Egypt, Rome and Greece. The Roman sarcophagi were especially interesting. What makes a visit even better is that the museum is free! They even offer free audio... more

Just wanted to mention to those contemplating a visit in the near future that magnificent fresh flower arrangements inspired by and reflecting individual works of art are currently on display. The beauty, scents and cleverness of the flower arrangements definitely add to what is already a jewel of a museum. In general, the collections are wonderfully displayed, with a clearly... more

I chose to go to this museum on a Friday night when the hours are extended. There weren't a lot of people there which added to my enjoyment. They have free audio wands which I highly recommend taking around with you in order to learn more about what you are seeing. There are quite a few interesting galleries and one... more

The Walters is an amazing collection in an amazing venue in an amazing location - underrated both among locals and certainly among those from outside the area. The variety is staggering, and I'm not usually all that into art museums, but this one held my attention through all of the exhibits. As some other reviewers have said, it is the... more

Don't miss this fine gallery. It is a growing collection, the beginning of which was the fantastic collection of a father and son in the railroad business in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and willed to the city of Baltimore. It spans all continents and all time periods from ancient to early 20th century. Some items are not... more

For a non-afficianado like myself, the museum is perfect. Its collection is a superb balance of art, sculptures, history, and manuscripts. In short, the variety keeps your interest. In addition to its variety, the collection is an ideal size: big enough to keep one interested for several hours but not so big as to overwhelm the casual museum-goer. I can... more

What a delightful art event. The Walters Art Museum is situated in downtown Baltimore. I happened to be in town to visit my parents in Annapolis and looked online to find something to do. This intimate museum was abuzz with activity for the multi-day annual "Art Blooms at the Walters." Each room had a volunteer available to explain the relevance... more
