We really enjoy the Walters as one of our free, local museums. The collection amassed in a private collection and then donated to the city of Baltimore is one of the nation's finest. I've been going there since the late '90s, when they finally expanded their display space by renovating a space that wasn't meeting their needs (it had temperature... More

The Walters has small collections of exquisite decorative and fine art. It has charming little nooks with small items of beauty. I love the collector's room, with dark paneling and lots of treasures. As a resident of the city, I try to go once a year. If you are lucky, you might get a special exhibit.

The Walters Art Museum is a great visit! You can spend as little or as much time there as you want. There is just so much to see and everything is well arranged, and while it's primarily "art" it is so much history as well. My wife and I just love the place. We've been many times and are planning... More

This is really a great museum, there is so much to look at and such a wide variety of different kinds of art anybody could be happy to wander around in there for hours! It is wheel chair friendly and has many elevators if you don't like the stairs. It's easy to reach down town, and is not going to... More

Well worth a couple hours! Some real jewels in this beautiful museum, especially in the antiquities and the middle age icon sections. Give the far eastern art a look too in the attached building for some fascinating Hindu pieces.

This art gallery is free, and has some excellent works of art. I especially liked most of the works on the third floor, they did a great job of linking together European and American art, showing how the styles and ideas moved between them. It was well curated too. As it's free, you can just pop in briefly to see... More

I only regret not having enough time for anything else than a quick tour. This museum is worth a leisurely visit.

The Walters is a small, but beautifully appointed museum toward the downtown area of Baltimore, right around the corner from the gorgeous Peabody Library (part of Johns Hopkins University). Free entrance makes the Walters an attractive place to at least try out. The collection is somewhat spotty, however. For example, having recently returned from Morocco and Andalusia, my wife and... The Walter's is one of the most beautiful museums I have been to and have been a member for years. It has a wonderful history of the father and son collectors as well as other art collectors. It has great educational programs. It is always a treat to be there.
