We had read several reviews about how cool Mt. Vernon was and how great it was to climb to the top of Washington Monument and get a bird's eye view of the city. So, we climbed the narrow corridor of 228 steps to the top. Fortunately, it was late in the day so we only saw about 4 other couples... more

This is an essential Baltimore experience - more authentic than taking the elevator to the top of the World Trade Center (which, however, is also a must-see).
