In a city of beautiful churches, it's nice to see a historic synagogue as well. And what history this house of worship has! The temple offers guided tours with volunteer docents who are congregation members. Worth a visit.

One hour tour of this lovely temple where you learn about its history as one of the first Reformed synagogues, along with its importance to the history of the city of Savannah.

This Synagogue in downtown Savannah is very unique. It is the only gothic styled Synagogue and thus shaped in a cross although it was never a Church. It was the most popular architectural style when it was built. It has a letter from various Presidents including George Washington and a Torah written on deerskin. The stain glass windows are beautiful... More

We really learned a lot from our guide about the congregation of this Reformed Jewish Temple. They have a Torah which was brought to the settlement in 1773 as well as many other artifacts.

However, don't be afraid to take this tour. This is not how they conduct it at all. This is a reformed religion, not the ortrhodox. The... More

It's an unusual architecture for a Temple, but it is absolutely gorgeous. Also very interesting to find the history of the Jewish population goes back so far into the original founding of Savannah.
