Good presentation of history that I lived through.
It a terrible shame that this museum is not mentioned by any of the trolley tours or shown on any tourist map. Small but so interesting. I knew nothing about the civil rights movement in savannah and it was terrific to learn. The museum is across the street from the visitors center and apx 2-3 blocks south. Nothing in those...

Very informative, staff is very knowledgable, Walking distance from the visitor's center, history museum, and railroad museum. Educational for all ages. Free parking Don't miss this museum it is one of the best in savannah.
Mom and I decided to find this museum and visit it. We loved it, one of the best Museums we have ever been to. It was so interesting and very realistic. Love the lunch counter because you feel you were there. Just opens your eyes to so much stuff.
Personally, I am very surprised to see any review that is not a 5 star review for this place. It really is something special when a museum can recount history so well and make you feel emotion during your visit there. That is exactly what the Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum has done for me.
There is so much...

We have been to this museum and found its exhibits dated, but they do represent the civil rights era in Savannah. It is certainly worth seeing this historic event documented and illustrated. It is a part of our history and tells the story.
I really enjoyed all parts of the tour, but this was my favorite. I only wished the gift shop would have been open and that I would have had more time to enjoy the museum. We sat and watched a video for 10-15 minutes and I would have much rather spent my time touring the museum.
The museum is informative and well-organized. There were three people of varying ages in my group and we all learned something. Too bad the shuttles and trolleys don't go here, although it's only about a mile from downtown and the historic district.
The museum is located a bit away from the main attractions and is not included in the trolley tours which is a shame. It is well worth a visit as you get a flavour of the past.
