Once again, my wife and I took a little camping trip, this time we went to Ft McAllister State Park near Richmond Hill, GA. It was a great little state park that was a nice surprise to both of us. Very cool - and this is from someone who usually does not enjoy war related sight seeing! I'd never heard of this kind of fort and it has been preserved so well that you could really imagine yourself there during the civil war. Worth an afternoon to go check it out! more

This earthen fort is so neat! After we saw the video they show, we walked out to see the fort! WOW! we sould just "sense" and "imagine" the sounds of guns going off and the men yelling for more ammo! It just seemed so real to us! The place is so different from other forts with the underground munitions room,... more
