Savannah has a small town feel with wonderful people and we felt safe and welcomed walking our 2 Border Terriers at all hours.

Maybe even better than Charleston. Nicer than New Orleans. Pretty hot, of course.

Save a long day if you plan to walk the squares and go to the river walk. Parking in the downtown garages is great. Be sure to visit a visitor center for information that includes discounts to restaurants and other places of interest. It is easy to lose oneself as the squares provide so much information to read and statues,... More

The area is a grid with squares so it is impossible to get lost. Spanish moss blowing in a gentle breeze off live oak in the glimmer of a southern full moon!

The public squares don't disappoint. I read about them years ago, and finally got to see them. Most of them are lush with beautiful trees dripping with Spanish moss. Across from the parks are mostly beautiful homes and houses of worship. A real treat to explore by foot, car or trolley.

My wife and I took a trolley tour of the historic district but old Savannah is only about 3/4 mile wide and quite walkable. You can take the 90 minute or get on and off to sightsee at your own pace. The waterfront is very colourful.

Loved the historic district. We walked many of the squares and really enjoyed all the history. It's a beautiful area.
