Despite the heat it was well worth getting the subway from Manhattan to the Brooklyn side of the bridge then walking back across it to enjoy the view of Manhattan - thoroughly recommend. more
That particular day we spent walking around with our guide book in our hands - it was a wonderful day! We had some shopping bags with us from Chinatown when we crossed the Brooklyn Bridge. The sun was disappearing when we crossed and it was very busy with tourists and locals, and eventually our group somewhat separated as we each... more
Everyone should take advantage of the rare opportunity to walk across a famous bridge. The walkway is pretty cool as most of it is wooden. It is divided in half - one side for cyclists and the other for pedestrians. The cars are on either side of you at first, but eventually they are completely underneath the walkway. We walked... more
We really enjoyed our walk across Brooklyn Bridge to enjoy the scenery. Watch out for the cyclists though they will usually ring their bell if you get in the way.. There are a few people selling bottled water if you get thirsty and you have some beautiful views of New York. A must do when visiting New York more

On a cold day it can... more

We went in the morning, around 9am, by taking the A or C blue line subway to the first stop in Brooklyn. From there the path to the foot of the bridge was... more
Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge is a marvelous experience for all ages. The pedestrian walkway starts on Adams Street, which is just a 5 minute walk north, (if that), from the Jay Street/Borough Hall subway station. We were there on a weekend morning, and the area in my opinion, is 100% safe. The grade is easy, and one can go... more
