Spent a very worthy three hours here as part of a 2,500-mile road trip earlier this month. The top thing worth mentioning is the Park's staff. They are very knowledgeable about every tiny detail regarding the joining of the transcontinental railroad, and steam railroading in general. If railroading isn't your thing, you'll probably only rate this a 3, but since... More

Interesting but probably not worth the drive if you are here for just a couple of weeks.

There is some interesting history here, but it is a long driver and not a lot to see.

I like things that are historic and can't be seen anywhere else. This is something you can't see anywhere else. It does take a while to get out there and if there's not a reenactment going on there's not a lot to see. If you go out that far go a little further and see the Spiral Jetty.

The Golden Spike National Historic Site is a real gem of Northern Utah. What a critical part of history is lying out there in the desert. The Visitors center is so interesting, and the sit itself is moving. When the Locomotives are running, well, there's just nothing like stepping back in time. As a former Ranger at the GSNHS, I... Very educational and enlightening. I wouldn't recommend going right in the heat of the day.

As a US History teacher, I go out of my way to stand where history is happened and that is why I went to the Golden Spike National Historic Site! This is the site where the transcontinental railroad was completed and they have nicely restored this important historic site. It was sad to learn that none of the original railroad... More

This is where it all came together - East meets West. Though it is a bit of trip to get there, the journey is worth the effort. The presentation is excellent. Many don't realized the imporrtance of this spot - but they will after a visit.

Way out there, nearest thing to it is a rocket fuel plant. Worth visiting, nice to see, wish they could run the trains for a few miles not just back and forth. We went out and drove on the old rail bed, (not great for a car but fine in a suburban), if your in the salt lake city area... More
