NOTHING like the brochure shows. More than half of the places were closed. Of the remaining ones that were open, many we drove right by. You couldn't PAY me to go into them. One we did venture in smelled like feces and urine--they had about 5 puppies running around. The Board of Health should be called on them! In another... More

I have done this loop several times and have never been disappointed. There are so many shops to visit it's hard to complete in a day. Not only a lot of awesome art and craft works but also a good place to get ideas if you're talented in those areas at all. I especially like Alewine Pottery, their work is... More

This was one of our favorite "tours." A bus picks you up at each section and takes you on to the next. Be sure to visit the broom shop and if you can strike up a conversation. We had such a great time just trying to figure out what they were saying and they laughed at us! Nicest people. Also,... More

What a quaint store to visit on the trail! I purchased a German mold Santa ornament. It is absolutely beautiful. The owner Jack showed us some techniques while we were there and was so nice to us. They are very under priced and the quality is exceptional. I only get into the Christmas ornaments/decorations but all of the work produced... More

These artists are clearly very proud of their work and rightly so. We took the 8 mile loop and stopped into most of the shops that were open. We did our tour on a late Saturday afternoon in December, so not all of the shops were open. We purchased some very unique and well-made items as Christmas gifts. Not only... More

We followed the "Arts and Crafts Loop Trail" just outside Gatlinburg. This was a great opportunity to find out more about the community of artists and artisans who make their home in this beautiful area. We visited a working pottery, where we chatted with the potter busily making lovely vases and other items. We stopped at a gift shop/gallery and... More

We aren't into country decor and there was a lot of that here but I did enjoy the candles and the little old-fashioned soda shop. Actually, the soda shop was my favorite. We did the old-time photo that was in the back of a jewelry store but we were not too impressed with the results. The kids had fun dressing... More

There are some very nice shops along the Arts & Crafts trail - photography, art, pottery, woodworkers, jewelry, textiles, food, etc. However, after the first 10 or 12 shops, I began to tire of it. This is unfortunate for the one artist who might have had just the thing that would have caught my eye, but I didn't see it... More
