We had a great time! Myself, my husband, our 3 year old daughter, and our 1 year old son all had a blast doing this, and got some really neat rocks. We had one of the Smoky Mountain Topaz rocks made into a ring to keep for our little girl. Very, very fun! Our kids loved it! A bit pricey... More

This was actually more fun than we thought it would be. They let our family of six share a bucket and it took us about an hour to sift through to find the 'gems'. The gems aren't anything great, mind you, but we had fun just experiencing the sifting. We would definitely do this again!

My husband and I went to the gem mine in Feb 2011. We got our bucket to mine, After we were done.they showed us the stones we found. They told us we had a good size ruby and that it would make a nice ring. We fell for this and spent 207.43. Then while I wasn't paying attention my husband... More

It starts out nice. You get a bucket with dirt and find a bunch of pretty rocks. then the owner tells you all about the nice rocks you have found and then pulls out the tip jar. Next he tells you if you give him a big tip he will tell you if you found a diamond (like he is... More

I bought a 5ct ruby ring set in white gold and the setting was awful it has file marks on setting and the shape is not round. I've called 2 times and wrote a letter, the letter I sent on Sept.12 and I still havn't heard from them.

I have always wanted to do this and finally got the opportunity. When we were there, it was kind of slow, only one employee, but he was very knowledgable and friendly. I did have a lot of stones in my bucket, and he went through and told me what each stone was. I did have one cut and ended up... More

My family visited the Gatlinburg area mainly for the beautiful aquarium. Anyways we took our young son to do some mining at the Old Town Gem Mine. The owner Jesse kept trying to push the 100 dollar bucket of gems. We decided on the 35 dollar bucket. We found what we were told was a 4 carat ruby in the... More
