Beautiful scenery, excellent resource to learn about local history

Hopewell Culture National Historical Park houses Mound City. If you go there, be sure to talk with the park rangers. They are very knowledgable and can bring the park to life. Be sure to visit the visitors' center and museum. They have some neat artifacts and give an interesting look at the site and its history. The sheer size of the wall and enclosure make you marvel at the manpower and engineering it required.

We stopped here to learn more about Indian Mounds. The mounds here are from the time of Christ, so they are, well, ancient! The movie is very informative and displays show how the area was used before being deemed historical, which is also very interesting. Helpful rangers, restrooms, and a nice gift shop.
