On our first night in New Orleans, we went to Pat O'Briens because I was dying for one of their Hurricanes. I had enjoyed one on both of our previous trips there in the last 11 years and couldn't wait! The courtyard was busy but not crowded and we got a seat right away with no waiting. I got my... more

My husband and I ate dinner here one night during our vacation. There was no wait and we were seated in the courtyard next to one of the "flaming" fountains. We both ordered Hurricanes (which are STRONG!), I had Red Beans and Rice and my hubby had a sampler with Shrimp Etouffe, Jambalya and Gumbo. The drinks and the food... more

My boyfriend and I thought this would be a "Hard Rock Cafe" type of chain bar. We were pleasantly surprised. It was a busy Saturday afternoon and the courtyard was packed. The server who 'picked us up' did his best to find us a table for nearly 10 minutes. We ended up with a nice table in the corner and... more

Prompted by a recent mention of this scam over on the TA forums, I would add my two experiences. Both in the courtyard, and again in the piano bar, I ordered a drink. The waiter, then bartender take my money, leave, and never return. A ten dollar bill, given for a 5.50 drink, never implies "keep the change." The waiter... more

New Orleans definitely has it's share of bars to draw you in. You absolutely must stop by Pat O'Briens. My husband and I sometimes went into this place 3 times in one day! It just has such a cool atmosphere. We always got a table outside near the fountain. During the week, the waiter will bring you each a little... more

Yes, it's touristy but we love being tourists in New Orleans. We've been going to Pat O'Brien's since our honeymoon and still have a great time when we go there. We especially love the patio with the flaming fountain. Only once have we sat inside at the piano bar (during a rainy night). It was nice but not the special... more

Way too crowded and the food was just "so-so". Service was ok but rushed. The Hurricanes were disappointing. It would be better as a hang-out place than for dinner. more

We expected the touristy atmosphere. We expected a wait. We were told we could not eat on the patio, but could wait there and get a drink. When we sat down, we noticed several people were eating. We were then told we had to move to a table in a more crowded area. Very unpleasent experience. more

We popped in for a cocktail around 4 p.m. after taking a 2 hour walking tour. We had no problem getting a table in the courtyard and enjoyed our drinks, my husband had a hurricane and I had a rainstorm. Great place to relax on a hot afternoon. Remember to take your glass with you or return it for a... more

Had a great time. Everyone talks about the fire fountain in the courtyard, but don't pass up the other 2 bar areas... There is a sports bar, if that is your sort of thing, but we went in to just quickly "check out" the dualing pianos bar and ended up staying for a few hours... Go early if you want... more
