When on vacation, I always try to take a cooking class. You can learn so much about the history of a city by the influences in their cooking. The New Orleans Cooking Experience delivered on the experience. Gerard Maras was our chef. He has worked at Commanders and Mr. B's Bistro. the quality of his work is exceptional. In addition... More

Boo Macomber was a gem of a chef / instructors and her assistants Jenny and Indira were fabulous too. Our classmates were fun to share the experience with -- made a couple of new friends, got great advice about places to see and eat in addition to the cooking expereince. We were in a temporary location -- but that didn't... More

We had a wonderful time watching Gerard Maras create a delicious four dish menu. We learned such a lot, and the atmosphere was lovely. Gerard was a man in his element, calm and in control, open, warm and friendly. A really special experience with top notch food. Gerars Maras - we salute you and all the staff at the cooking... More

This is worth every penny if you are looking for an intimate, intelligent evening centered around outstanding food! The host (Judy) and her staff were warm and inviting, yet allowed the evening to center on the food and the beautifully maintained historic house in which the Culinary Institute is housed. The food is exquisite. Chef Frank Birgtsen is genuine, soft-spoken... More

This is a "not to be missed" experience for both visitors and locals. The cooking class with Chef Brigtsen is such a great evening. The chef engages and charms everyone in the small class and the evening is both informative and an excellent meal all rolled into one. Even if you are not a cook, you will learn not only... More

We experienced a cooking class taught by Frank Brigtsen. The class was fantastic. Frank was personable and eager to answer our questions. The recipes he provided are easy to follow. We will return to New Orleans and looking forward to another cooking experience.

This is a must. I learned so much. You must take a class with Frank. He's the best. It's worth every penny. The unlimited glasses of wine doesn't hurt either. lol.

While I'm not a huge fan of cooking, I enjoy watching FoodTV and going to cooking classes. We attended Chef Frank Brightsen's class. When I told a friend who lives in New Orleans who was teaching the class, she was quite impressed. Chef Brightsen has a fantastic reputation as an award winning chef and is quite the big deal. The... We have been to the New Orleans School of Cooking (which we loved), but the New Orleans Cooking Experience is like NOSOC on steroids. Our intimate class of 5 was taught by Frank Brigtsen himself, owner and founder of Brigten's. His warmth and intimate stories were worth the price of admission. His cooking insights (he learned his cooking at Paul... More

We visited the NOCE on Valentine's Day as it was a unique way to spend the holiday while visiting from New York. It is a full 4-hour evening that includes a cooking demonstration with some participation of selected guests. I got a few good cooking tips from the Chef. All of the other guests were locals and everyone was very... More
