We went (to the original location) for the Treme vs The Wire show a few weeks ago. It would have been great except that it was so crowded. We got there early. Within 30 min. after the the show started, people were crammed up against us on all sides, and shoving into me constantly to try to get through the... More

Don't expect anything refined. Tipitina's is a comparable to a large barn with two floors and plenty of bars. It is, however, one of the great places to see music. We saw Doctor John there this trip and were within four feet of him. What an experience.

Great local bands, great vibe, not to be missed. The late shows do get verrry late... make sure you plan how you're going to get home in advance!

Live music was meant to be played at a venue like this. No thrills and even slighted views do not diminish the experience brought to you by Tips. It doesn’t bring as many “name” bands as some of the other places in town, but it does bring you great local acts along with a slice of nostalgia. Late night parking... More

Only went here once for Spearhead. Good sound but a little crowded(sold out show). They sell beers outside while you're waiting in line and there were a couple food stands as well. If you really want to do it right, look into renting the Tchoup house next door. Our friends are huge Spearhead fans and rented the house. It is... More

Was looking for something different to do during a recent trip to NOLA for my wife's b-day. Saw that the every Sunday the Cajun music master Bruce Daigrepont and his band played for a dance party "fais-do-do," and made the trek from Canal to participate. We were immediately made welcome by the regulars, and treated as if we were one... More
