Its a dive, it's cash only, it's gross, it's small, the music is loud, and most people are just there waiting for their name to be called to eat upstairs at the amazing Adolfo's. It's awesome. Go.

My Sister and I found this little gem, We enjoyed the music so much, we made a second trip there before our vacation ended. Small yes, but the atmosphere is so worth it.

This bar has everything I love in a dive bar: cheap beer (High Life) on tap, live music up front and a no nonsense bartender who's quick with a pour. For people who need more, there's an extensive bottle list, a full bar and a lot of history to examine -- pinned to nearly every inch of the walls are... More

Don't do anything without asking the bartender if it's OK. If you're a dude you may have to pay the band $20 to talk to them. But if you're a lady, well, you're probably OK.

I am so happy that I did not read about this place or plan in advance to visit. It was much more fun to just stumble upon it. So lucky. The band was incredible. The bartender , a lovely woman with a short white bob, made a terrific ending to our first anniversary.

We spent an evening in a few bars on Frenchmen St, and we finished the night at the Apple Barrel. That particular night, the band playing was more blues than jazz, and significantly more low-key than anything else playing on the street. They had a wide selection of affordable beers and ciders (liquor before beer, you're in the clear...) and... More

Any trip to Frenchmen St. requires a stop at the Apple Barrel. It is small...it is laid back...and it certainly isn't fancy, but for blues and a cocktail mood...it is perfect. We were there on Mardi Gras night........ We walked in and found an open chair at the bar and an open spot beside it. We slid right in .... More
