“One tough drive”

The road into this beach is a beast-- many people give up and go back. Once you get there, it's an ok beach -- no shade, but a lot of nice sand and Big Island's beautiful water. There are many beaches that I find preferable.

You definately need a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get down to the beach. We saw others in regular cars and it was very slow going for them. The beaches are beautiful and not crowded. Entry to the water is iffy due to the rocks, but each beach had sandy spots to enter at. The hike over the lava rock... More
