We camped at Kings Mountain State Park in SC during the spring, very beautiful and wooded. The park itself: the park has nice hiking trails, one of which is a short 1.5 mile hike from the campground to a mid-1800's living history farm. Our kids loved the living history farm because it was totally hands-on - they could touch everything...the... More

Very nice state park with beautiful trees and flowers! Great places to picnic also! I am not a hiker so I cannot personnally comment on the hiking!

October and Kings Mountain seem made for each other. My scout troop used to camp here every October in the "primitive" section, which had a water spicket and outhouse nearby. The temperature just seems right at that time of year, and there are far fewer bugs. Summer hikes around here were rather humid, so pack extra water. There are trails... More

I love anything to do with the civil war. My grandfather served as a steamship captain on the Ohio for the Union army. Easy walking trails and lots of monuments to read.

not far off I-85 is the park, and it is big, and a lovely woodland with cmping, group camping and trails. Stressed out? Go early in the morning, even if it's raining, and turn off the radio/cd/ cell phone. roll down the windows and cruise through the park at the posted speed limit, and listen! listen to the rain fall,... Great location convenient to I-85/Kings Mountain National Military Park. We are tent campers and this was our first stay here. They offer a primitive tent area but we splurged and stayed on an electric/water site. Site did not have a raised tent pad but had a mulched level area for the tents. Plenty of trees if you want to put... More

The campsites are rather close to each other compared to other state parks; very little privacy. The water pressure is EXTREMELY low so taking a shower in your own vehicle would take F O R E V E R. We were there over Columbus Day weekend when the weather was glorious so the park was quite busy. It is quite... More
