The Klondike Gold Rush National Historic Park has great displays, walks and interpretive programs that really bring Skagway and its history to life. Don't miss it! Become a Junior Ranger!
After several days of excursions I just didn't feel like riding the train for 4 hours. I went to check out the visitor information at the Gold Rush NP, and was pleased to find that they offered a 25 minute film about the history of the area and Gold Rush, as well as a 40-minute walking tour of the town....

While there are more famous National Parks, this one really delivers. The Visitor's Center and the walking tours should be your first stop in town. They give you a terrific introduction to the town and the area and all the history that has occurred here.
The rangers are all very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. They'll answer any question about history,...

The National Park Service offers free tours, but you must get tickets. This tour is very informative and we were surprised and amazed with some of the historical facts. The tours are fun and provide an historical perspective that will give you a significantly greater appreciation for your visit to this town. The tour is under an hour and well...

The ranger led walking tour of Skagway was a great way to learn about the Klondike gold rush and Skagway's part in it. Our ranger was, as always with National Park rangers, so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the history of this area. The tour takes you to many false front buildings that have been restored and the stories give you...

Toured the museums for free and paid $2 for a walking tour with the ranger. Our ranger wasn't the best storyteller in the world, but was a great little jaunt around town and a good informative way to spend the morning. Daughter was sworn in as a junior ranger and made it a highlight of Skagway. Don't miss this place!
Hiking in the area is very good and there is a historical cemetery from an Avalanche that happened on April 03, 1898. The old town site is all but gone now but the ranger did give a great tour and detailed history of Dyea.
This was an outstanding tour. As usual, the National Park Service did a great job, both with the restoration of the buildings and the excellent Park Ranger guide that we had. She told us about history, about those who took advantage of the prospective miners (prospective prospectors?), and what it felt like to be in a strange town on the...
