Ellwood was a fantastic host. Keep the 9 hours very interesting from start to finish. His insight and knowledge of specific events of D-Day made the days tour come to life. His tour is a must if you want a first class tour of the beaches. If you have a choice----travel to his headquarters at St. Mere Eglise and join... more

I wrote a review on his website. Took it as part of a Rick Steves tour. It was the highlight....he brings the DDay events down to specific individuals; his knowledge is second to none. Top notch. I've traveled a lot, and this tour was the best I've ever been on. Wish it had lasted for days. more

Wow, where to begin. In planning our vacation to France this fall, one of my absolute requirements for the family was to visit Normandy and gain a true appreciation for what the Greatest Generation did in service of not only America, but Britain and Canada in their mission to liberate France from the Nazi regime. I have always had a... more

My Son and I were able to spend the day with Ellwood revisiting the beaches and studying "Operation Overload". My Father had landed on Omaha on D-Day, 1944. I made the trip once with him but he was not able to return this time. Having Ellwood take a personal interest in my Fathers past added to the unique tour experience... more

We booked a private tour w/Ellwood based upon the recommendations on this site and the tour lived up to our high expectations. Ellwood kept things interesting and educational for the 4 of us who had different levels of knowledge regarding D Day. He really brought history to life. We did the tour as a long day trip from Paris, Ellwood... more

If you're interested in sitting on a crowded bus, listenening to guides describe city highlights in multiple languages only to miss all that is on the opposite side of the bus than you.... then this is NOT the tour for you. On the D-Day Battle tour, Ellewood brings his passion and knowledge to life and personalizes the tour for your... more

We booked this tour for our 17 yr old's birthday and made the choice to book with Ellwood on the strength of the reviews here. We had very high expectations but were not disappointed. We booked a personal day tour which was tailored to our differing levels of knowledge. From the initial briefing in St Mere-Eglise to the final moments... more

My wife and I enjoyed a one-day tour of the Normandy WWII battle sites with Elwood of D-Day Battle Tours in mid-May 2008 with my in-laws (4 people total) and had an absolute blast. Our tour began with a 90-minute general WWII history lesson in Elwood's house, which is itself a significant piece of D-Day history. With Elwood as our... more

Add our names to the long list of admirers of Ellwood von Siebold and his D-Day Battle Tours. We and our eighteen year old son and his two buddies took the two day tour with him and we are extremely glad we added the extra day. We basically hung onto everything he said. Ellwood is an awesome storyteller and many... more

Elwood of DDay Battle tours www.ddaybattletours.com took our family of 7 on a tour of the American sector of the Normandy invasion. He absolutely captivated all 3 generations including our teenagers! His ability to focus our attention in a very large D-Day area with limited time available was very valuable. It's an inspiring location and his knowledge, focus and passion... more
