We visited Little Bighorn in August 09. The Ranger talk was very informative, and the video presentation and talk were an excellent way to learn the history of the battle, from the perspective of the white and Native American people. We spent a long time in the visitor centre looking at all the displays. I especially loved the memorial for... more

Spent the night in Hardin, MT on the way to Yellowstone (the are no motels in Crow, MT), and got to Little Bighorn Monument early the next morning. That is an excellent time to visit. The view of the windswept grasslands from on top of the hill is impressive and when you ponder the fight that took place here, the... more

I'd wanted to visit the monument since my school days of learning of the battle, and since reading "Bury My Heart at Wounded... more

On a three week road trip through several states this was one of the highlights. I think its success lies in being very atmospheric and not at all commercialised. The battlefield memorial and markings provide an excellent idea of how little the landscape has changed since the battle. We attended one of the ranger talks which explained the customs and... more

A very moving and eriee experience. We are very simpathetic to the native Americans plight and can't read and watch enough books and documentaries on their history. A great book is "Killing Custer". It tells about the battle of Little Bighorn from the Indians point of view. "The Last Stand" is a great film on the same subject. It was... more
