Very good location in Central Boston for going out for a bike tour or a run. The view is very nice with the river and some older buildings around as well as MIT. You do have to watch out for construction around the bridge as sometime you can get caught into doing major detour.
It can get crowded on Sunday when it gets sunny and warm.
I love the Charles River Bike Path on a weekday morning. On a weekend, it's crowded with a lot of people who don't understand how to use a bike path--you can't really get a good workout, because there are too many people wandering around cluelessly. Great views watch out for the cracks in the tar! Nice loop from the Cambridge side over to the Hatch Shell and back
Easy path with plety to see. Makes it real easy to go from Newton into Boston

I'm a jittery, hobby bicyclist, not a commuter. Although the river path is beautiful, I can't enjoy it with all the other traffic (runners, skate boarders, strollers and bicyclists) coming toward me and passing me.
I loke kayaking here duign the summer even though the river is at times crowded with sailboats and some new craze, which are the paddleboards not common to Boston. The landscape is a pretty suburbia and the river just shines with the reflection of the sun. I like watching the people running and biking. However, during winter it is also...
