I am not a civil war history buff and walked away from the Museum and Confederate White House completely impressed. I was moved by the many civil war artifacts and tragic stories of the brave men who went to battle for the Confederacy. Reading the individual stories that accompany unifoms riddled with bullet holes and stained by blood of a... more

The White House of the Confederacy was an amazing stop on our history road trip. It has been restored in a way that actually makes you feel like you are in the house with Jefferson Davis in 1861. Unlike many other historical home tourns, the White House showcases every room in the house, both up and downstairs. Our tour guide... more

The museum itself has a lot of cool artifacts from the Civil War. I can't say anything about the White House, because the tour guide, Benton, told us we had to leave because our 7 month old baby was jabbering. I understand being annoyed by a screaming crying baby, but kicking us out because she's talking, that's ridiculous. The White... more

The Museum is great, but if you only have time for one the White House is the must-see. Try to find out if a guy named Dean is running the tour of the White House. He is amazingly knowledgeable. He really is more of a historian than a tour guide. It is also amazing to think of all the history... more

3 story museum packed with memorabilia. A lot of Confederate uniforms - some from famous soldiers and some not. Most interesting was the White House tour. It has just been renovated and was quite impressive. A very large house for the time. Beautiful light fixtures. more

Almost impossible to find and park at (due to construction) but worth the trouble. The museum is small and but has many uniforms, relics, and artifacts. Unfortunately, for being a Confederate Museum, I found some of the information posted to read to continue preaching the slant of the "evil Southern slave traders", washing over the true causes of the war.... more

As other reviewers have noted, the Museum is not easy to find and parking is really bad. We got into the cramped parking garage of the hospital next door, at least it was free on Sunday. The experience is extraordinary. See snoopygirls pictures below, they are great. If you are a Civil War buff this is a must see. When... more

This was the first 'civil war' site on our trip, so we weren't yet burned out on history and found the museum well worth a couple of hours and a few bucks of our time. I would have liked to see more stuff about the day to lives of people living in the Confederacy, rather than endless military displays, but... more

The Museum and the White House are located adjacent to each other on Clay Street in Downtown Richmond. It is very hard to find and parking is a total pain. Construction is everywhere, which only complicates matters further. It was an adventure finding them but once I did, I was totally blown away by both the Museum and the White... more

I was blown away by the items on display at the Museum of the Confederacy. You can see the dress uniform and sword Gen. Robert E. Lee wore at Appomattox. You can see the sword that Gen. Lewis Armistead carried at Pickett's Charge. One of my favorite items was a huge painting showing the last meeting of Lee and Jackson.... more
