Use mapquest or a GPS product like Tom Tom and you shouldn't have any trouble finding this fine manor house with its fine setting, overlooking the James River. The gardens aren't much but the interiors of this unique attraction (the finest 16th - 17th C. building and furnishings in North America) are a step back in time. Naturally, those who... more

We had a great time here. It's easy enough to get to if you have half a brain and Mapquest. To be fair, it's a local attraction with a volunteer staff but taken in that context (don't go expecting Chatsworth) it couldn't be lovlier. This was the worst disappointment of our trip. The building was a "Diamond" attraction in the AAA guide, and the website looked good, and really, how often do you get the chance to see a 16th century house and authentic tudor gardens without flying overseas?
