I walked around the backside where tourists don't go. There is a rock with an engraving on it. You can sit on the rock , lean over, read the inscription and fall in. Oh, and watch the canoes capsize!

Best boat put-in is the Concord River bridge, just upstream from the Old North Bridge, and jsut downstream from Egg Rock. Try the northerly fork (toward the Assabet) which parallels Lowell Road and then turns to shadow Barrett's Mill Road. The southerly branch takes you under several attractive bridges, and to the canoe/kayak rental shop by the South bridge.

rentals are available in the area or bring your own. Nice quiet river to paddle and plenty of take out points.

LOVE kayaking along the Concord River. It's a peaceful river. Rent canoes or kayaks at the South Bridge Boat House. There are plenty of historical sotps to make along the way, like the Lexington / Concord battlefield. In the Fall, there's usually a fair of some sort, so be sure to pack some cash.

I put in at the Lowell Bridge in Concord, which is about 1/2 mile from downtown Concord. There is a ramp there where you can unload your kayak, but you park on the street.
