This is a nice place to hike on any kind of day. Rain or shine. You'll see deer, turkey, and if you're lucky you will see a bear. The trails are well marked and plentiful. The visitor center has info on George Washington's troops and lives back during the war. The Wick House is interesting with the inside much like...

The site of a soldiers' encampment during the Revolutionary War. Washington and his troops spent a difficult winter here with few supplies.
Spent several hours here with spouse visiting the historic cabin and hiking the 2+ mile trail to the rebuilt cabins. Peaceful hike, well-marked trails, saw a garter snake (yay!), and a really enjoyable afternoon. Thanks to Ranger Pam for introducing me to Tecnu, a homeopathic treatment for my arch nemesis poison ivy. I am forever grateful.
overall it's just a large forest area. There are walking and bike trails. It's one of the very few historic places you can see for free, the huts where soldiers must have stayed during the war are pretty cool. You can actually get to go in and see everything from the inside (not that there's a lot to see). You...

I have been visiting Jockey Hollow for over 60 years. It is as cool and interesting today as when I was 10. You get a real feel for what it was like back then.
great to walk, hike, take a bike ride. nice to imagine the history that took place here gorgeous area

Check the park site itself (http://www.nps.gov/morr/index.htm) for trail maps as well as information. Often overlooked however, is that this first National Historic Park, might well have become...

This is where "AMERICA" learned how hard it was to win the war. It also taught "AMERICA" that "WE" were one against many.
Jockey Hollow is a well maintained park in a lovely setting in NJ. There are not many structures in this Revolutionary War site other than the original homestead, a few re-created soldiers' cabins, and the visitor center which shows an informative film. However, the park has excellent trails and the paved roads are easily walked. It is surprising that Valley...
