This is a nice place to visit, not only because of the forest but the road that leads to it. Nice drive n the bendy roads. The trees are amazing.

I've been wanting to see the redwoods since I was a little kid, and this trip did not disappoint. It was truly an awe-inspiring experience and should most definitely be on your itinerary if you are in San Francisco. I dare say this was actually better than Alcatraz. If you do go, get there early. Parking fills up fast. We... More

We visited Muir Woods twice in our 1 week stay in San Francisco! The first time was with Tower Tours and we enjoyed it so much, we came back 5 days later once we had rented a car. The size and age of the redwoods makes one feel quite small and insignificant by comparison. There are a variety of walking... More

Spent a few hours walking amongst the redwoods. We went during the week and got there early enough to get a parking spot in the closest parking lot. When we came back out cars were parked all the way down the road! Also busses had arrived dropping people off. I would try to get there early in the morning on... More

We went there last Saturday. Arrived sharp at 7:40 am and the main parking was still not opened. We thought, its already full as the signboard said lot full more parking ahead. So we went to next lot and park there. Just behind the parking lot there is a small creek and two trails. We hike a little bit then... More

We were impressed when we first entered the woods. It was very quiet. The giant redwoods were indeed giants. It is any easy monument to walk. You could spend anywhere from2 to 4 hours in the Muir Woods. To capture the trees, I think it would be best to have a camcorder. The trees are to tall to use a... More

One thing about natural history is that despite all your fore knowledge and assumptions you can still be overawed and surprised by the real thing. Those trees just have to be seen.

Very beautiful park. However the ride into the park is hair-raising. If you are afraid of heights you might want to blindfold yourself as long as you're not driving.
