On our visit a couple of years ago, the road up there was not paved and the ride was pretty scary, but now the roads are paved and much better. Pena Escrita has in the meantime developed to a zoo, with all kinds of animals ( Wallabies, Hippopotamus, Monkeys etc.) with a nice pool and a little restaurant. The view...

was under the impression that the place had a restaurant not just a few picnic tables and a bar, staff very unfriendly when we interrupted their card game for overpriced food and drink. The manager of the "restaurant" seemed very eager to show his authority by shouting at his staff in front of us. was very uncomfortable. We paid 6o...

Pena Escrita is an animal park located in one of the largest natural parks in Spain. It's not only a bit bizarre, but its truly breathtaking. Fun for any age I think- but especially if you have kids. (this is a day-trip/overnight).
