We just visited the Cathedral in New Orleans, and were actually more impressed with the one in Natchez. Exquisite.
We attended 5 pm Vigil Mass. The fabulous sculptures and artwork, architectural details and beautiful organ set the stage for the fill-in Dominican priest to weave in extra patron saints, brief meditations and local announcements. A must see if your in the area. The craftsmanship is remarkable and a delight. The stain glass windows are beautiful. There really is a small confederate park just behind the church with a gorgeous fountain.
I actually visited this church in the mid 90's. Its breath taking. We were just peeking in from the outside during a service and someone invited us in to sit.
