Buttonwood Park Zoo is a great place to visit in the New Bedford Area. It's a relatively small-to-medium sized zoo, so don't expect giraffes and rhinos and you'll be pleased with your experience. When visiting my grandsons in MA, we decided to take the children to the Buttonwood Park Zoo. The zoo was decorated with Halloween themes while we were there, inflated ghosts, spiders, houses etc. it was very well planned and laid out. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised when I took my two-year-old to the Buttonwood Zoo. The Zoo is very small and compact in comparison to other zoos in the area such as Roger Williams and Franklin Park. It's not a big zoo .. but it's enough. My kids love it. In fact .. I stopped my RW Zoo membership and purchased the Buttonwood Zoo membership instead. Buttonwood Park Zoo is big enough to be entertaining and not large enough to be overwhelming. It is aimed at children with train rides and a "farm" for them to see the animals.
