Admittedly it was pouring with rain which is what happens in a rain forest but this half day trip was poor value and not worth it for the very short walk on the glacier itself. I wish we'd just driven up to the car park (free), walked to the foot of the glacier (free), taken some pictures and moved on... more

Wow what an experience! I did the day trip and yes it was tough work but the best day I had in my whole time in NZ. The views are like no other. Where else can the rain forest meet the ice. Loved it!!!!! more

We were blessed with good weather and got to see various glacier formations and features (i.e. crevasses, moulins, low-ceiling cave) which left me deeply in awe of nature's wonders. The helicopter ride was short at around 10 mins (because Fox Glacier extends out into the rainforest area) but offered spectacular waterfall views. Overall, this is a truly remarkable place. A... more

We had pre-booked a heli-hike which was canceled due to poor weather, so we did the half day Fox trot walk (?climb) on the lower part of the glacier. It was an awesome adventure and we had a great guide (Tasma), but it was very strenuous. We tried to do the helihike the next day but it was canceled again,... more

my husband and i did the half day hike since we decided to do this the same day we drove from queenstown. the drive up to fox glacier was beautiful! nadine was our guide. she had only been guiding for a month, but she was a pro! she was very knowledgable about the geology of the surroundings and the history... more

Our half day hike was great, but I think they understate the fitness level necessary. The number of steps you climb is daunting, but the pace is what killed me. I am considered reasonably fit in the US, but I think Kiwis must have a higher standard. I managed to complete the walk, but it was only with determination and... more

My first time on a helicopter and glacier walk on the Fox Glacier, was an unforgetable experience with a capital WOW. Our guide Stuart was ever conscious of our safety and eager to show us the wonders of what nature is willing to share that day. He gave encouragement for us to keep up so that he can show us... more

We decided to sign up for the ice climbing rather than full day hike to try and push our boundaries and try something new! It was one of the best days we have experiemced since arriving in NZ!! Our guide (Richard) was excellent teaching us good technique and maintaining our safety whilst also allowing us to experiment and try harder... more

In March 2009 we went on the Flying Fox tour with Fox Glacier Guides. The tour includes two helicopter rides and a 2.5 hour hike on the ice. After the short bus trip to the helipad we were provided with hiking boots to wear and split into groups for the helicopter ride. The helicopter trip is relatively short, less than... more

If you want a totally amazing experience, join Fox Glacier Guiding for one of their professionally run trips. On day one I joined the Helihiking trip which completely surprised me in every way. Fox Glacier has many hidden treasures. On day two I joined the Nimble Fox trip which again took me to a different level. Walking with crampons became... more
