The flight leaves from Franz Joseph and takes 50 minutes. In a 6 seater plane the views are indescribable and one is left spellbound by the beauty of it all. The trip is expensive, more so than the helicopter flights that land on the glacier, but is much longer and gives a true representation of the beauty of the area.... More

We were lucky to do this on a bright day the views were magnificent. Great to land on the glacier so tranquill.

We took the Air safaris from Franz Joseph and it was fantastic being able to fly above the glaciers and mountains. I even was able to sit in the copilot seat for an extra special view. Easy flight, felt very safe and had great views. The longer flight was well worth it.

This tip is worth every penny. The flight is about an hour and it takes you over the mountains and glaciers, you see mt Cook in all it's splendour and the rivers that flow from the glaciers and lakes. The whole trip is awesome and gives you a perspective and view you cannot get from the ground.

If you get the right conditions go for it. The helicopter round trip is about 25 mins, but the experience is terrific. The air clarity and colours when you exit the helicopter for 5 mins on top of the Glacier, is something that will remain with me for a long time.

A little scary if it's your first time in a helicopter or small plane, but oh so worth it. So very beautiful. You will never forget it.
