Took our girl scout troop here for the starlight safari overnight that they have. It was wonderful. We arrived about 4 on saturday...it was HOT but we saw lots of animals and lots of babies. Our program started at 630 and it was wonderful, worth every penny. Our girls had so much fun and learned alot. When the program ended... More

Confusing, congested and crazy pretty much sum up this animal kingdom. From non user friendly traffic flow to parking to the entrance to the exhibits, the Gladys Porter Zoo was anything but relaxing and enjoyable. The entrance to the zoo wasn't very obvious. The parking area was horrific, with men on bicycles (parking attendants) getting in the way of pedestrians... More

The sign announcing the zoo was obscure(we drove by it 2x) The entrance was not impressive, and the first few exhibits were not that well maintained or attractive. However, as we walked the path we were pleasantly suprised when the zoo "opened up" and we saw a lot of animals in a natural habitat setting. Tlhere were no bars. The... More

We took our children here on numerous occasions as well as chaperoned during school field trips with our children. There is something here for everyone to enjoy. From the pigmy hippo to the petting zoo. A great place to take the younger kids.

My family and I were staying in South Padre Island for Spring Break - needed a break form all that caos. The zoo was a welcomed change of scenery! We have been to many zoos and I liked this one very much. They had so many different animals! In speaking to a "local" he said that many of them are... More

This little zoo is unique in the way it is set up. Very well planned and you won't need a foot massage after its over like in larger zoos. We have had a yearly pass for almost 10 years and we have been there many many times.

Visited March 16th for my son's 3rd birthday & he loved it along with the rest of my family! (9 of us) :) Kiddoz had a blast in the splash park & us as the grown ups enjoyed reminiscing in the park benches. Lots of animals, wonderful exhibits, & fun petting zoo. Oh forgot to mention amazing photo ops, I... More

There is a window to where the monkies rest and it is fun. Little monkeys, big monkeys all playing jumping and greeting you by the wndow. It is a really cool experience.
