This would be a beautiful place except for all the trash. Bring shoes because there is lots of broken glass. Since there are cars and alcohol allowed, be careful especially if you are walking on the beach as there is ocean mist that makes visibility difficult at times for drivers even if they have not been drinking. more

I was born and raised in Brownsville. We grew up going to Boca Chica Beach every wknd in the summer and sometimes even during the week. With daylight savings time, you could enjoy the beach till 8PM. Never went to South Padre because we could not afford it. There used to be a fee for crossing the causeway. Sometimes we... more

My boyfriends family owns one of the houses on the beach. I had never been there before but found it to be relaxing. It is a place to go when you need to get away from crowds. Especially during spring break. more

Before visiting this weekend I always imagined that Boca Chica was this dirty place where the river is always empty and the area is unclean. I was blown away by how beatiful the water and beach areas were. I had such low expectations as to what to expect because people always tell me the river is dry and people dump... more

I was born and raised in Laredo, TX, which is along the Rio Grande. I was always interested in knowing where the river actually ends and how it meets with the Gulf. Also, I've read that most of the year the Rio Grande never joins it. I went this past November 03', and I must say that it was one... more

I loved it. From the aquamarine, clear Gulf waters to the now open again mouth of the Rio Grande. Civil War era wood ships pop up out of the sand on the beach. Boca Chica was the site of the last battle of the Civil War (the South, won but the war had been over for several weeks.) the area... more

I'm originally from Chicago, Illinois and I've lived here for about 14 yrs now. I had never visited Boca Chica Beach (State Park) until a couple of years ago. I found it to be a beautiful virgin beach. There are no buildings, streets, houses or anything to take away from the natural scenery. Granted, during spring break the beach is... more

Ive been to this place. Along the way, where the southern waters of Laguna madre used to be are no more, and the beach smelled. The mouth of the Rio Grande is dried up and the only thing separating US and Mexico is a line in a sand. more
