Being a history buff I travel to a good number of battlefields from the Revolutionary War to the Civil War. excellent review of the war for additional US territory. The headquarters has excellent displays. Also the grounds are great for hiking and birdwatching.

It's just a field and seems nondescript until you read the explanations and walk the battle layout. Makes history so real it's worth doing.

We enjoy taking visitors to Palo Alto, it gives you a good idea of life in this part of the country. The small museum has a very informative movie depicting the battle. There is a display of weapons and hands on for children. The staff is very informative and helpful. There is a good selection of books on the area... More

We live very close by and when we have a chance we go and walk around and read some great historical information that we might have missed, just being out there you imagine, picture all the soldiers, it just amazing.
