I live in Albuquerque, but this was my first visit to the Gruet Winery tasting room and tour. Went on a Saturday at around 1:00 with three friends. We opted for the reserve tasting because we had already tasted most of the regular wines and we don't often purchase bottles that cost $40. The room is smallish with a wooden... More

Who would have thought there was a premium champagne winery in NM? They know what they do best and stick to it.

We were looking forward to visiting Gruet - a favorite sparkling wine producers of ours - during our time in Albuquerque. We stopped by on a Friday afternoon, and enjoyed a nice tasting of various sparking wines and a few stills. The staff was quite pleasant, and very knowledgeable about the range of Gruet's offerings. I believe the price was... More

I've known about and enjoyed Gruet sparkling wines for a quite awhile, so having a chance to visit the tasting room I took it and am glad we made time to do so. The hostest was friendly and knowledgable about the wines she was pouring and we had a very good time and even joined the wine club. This is... More

No grapes are grown here, but the winery is still worth stopping at. They can get very busy on the weekends, especially in the summer, so keep that in mind and get there early. Tastings are $6.00 per person. Most wines are dry to semi-dry. Gruet also makes several varieties of sparkling wines which can be included in your tasting... More

They are a little pretentious and did not make the experience a good one for me.

I saw a terrible review of this winery from two years ago on Google. Apparently, this establishment has stepped up their game. One of the complaints on that dated review was that the guy waited for quite some time before anyone showed up to greet them. The front tasting area was not manned when we arrived so, like an adult,... More

I wish I had read the earlier reviews about this tasting room. I had a similar bad experience on October 9, 2010. We arrived after 2 pm, the small bar was full (about 10 people), so we looked at the items for sale and then had a seat at one of the side tables. 3 were occupied. The guy pouring... More

After reading the other reviews I was hesitant about stopping by Gruet Winery but my husband & I had promised our daughter we would. She has shopped online in the past and since we were going to be in Albuquerque for the Balloon Festival she asked if we would bring her back her favorite champagne and you know anything for... More
