I loved the tour, even the walk out to the lighthouse is great. The fact you can only do it at low tide makes it even cooler!

and while you sit there and watch the sunset, the tide will come in and cut you off from getting back to the beach (without having to wade or swim).

Check tide tables and amble on over. You won't be disappointed. great view from lantern room. Frame it at sunset for a great shot.

you have to wait for the tide to be out then hike across the rocks and climb up to the lighthouse. The view and the lighthouse itself are well worth the effort. Just make sure you get back across the rocks before the tide comes in or you might wind up spending the night there

This lighthouse will build more than 150 years ago, and has 3" thick walls. Really a great place to go for a picnic. However, check with tides, as it is only accessible at certain times of day.

The locals don't seem to care for tourists, either. Cali was pretty much a bust, as was middling Oregon!

Enjoyed the walk down to the rock beach during low tide. A healthy jaunt up to the lighthouse. We were not too happy that the Lighthouse was closed to visitors, but the view was breath-taking!

they still use the old school french made lenses for the lighthouse. Pretty cool, even though they were built by slaves

This lighthouse is staffed by volunteers who stay in the lighthouse a month at a time. They keep the place tidy and conduct tours with the help of docents. Our two favorite pieces in the house were a table built by one of the keepers and an original lighthouse keepers hat in one of the bedrooms. Be aware that the... More

My grandfather was a keeper here back in the Coast Guard days. Access is only possible when the tide is out to enter the little lsland it sits on. Because of this, my grandmother lived in town. LOL. However, fairly good records have been kept for the publics viewing and tours of the light house are well done. Great views... More
