I did this as a day trip from Denver. It was well worth it. The ride up was nice and relaxing and once I got to the park I was amazed. Right as I went through the main gate I started to see wildlife. The place is flooded with deer and elk and other animals. Bring your camera as you... more

This is a great day trip for people visiting Denver, or for Denverites trying to entertain visitors from out-of-town for a day. I would start by going west on I-70 from Denver to the new Central City Parkway, http://www.centralcityhighway.com/ , Go through Central City to get to Colorado Hwy 119 at Blackhawk, then head north towards Estes Park. Suggest starting from Estes Park (finish your touring in RMNP first). Drive slowly and be preparedt o stop and take in the MANY scenic vistas. Several towns along the away offer shops and eateries. End your drive with gambling in Central Ctiy. I enjoyed the Peak to Peak better than Trail Ridge Road inside RMNP. Try to Georgetown Loop RR...that... more

On my first visit to Colorado we took the Peak to Peak Highway on our way to visit Rocky Mountain National Park. We were both awestruck by the natural beauty around every bend in the road. See our photos! more
