Hey, it's a zoo. I don't understand the complaining about the animals being in enclosures. Would you like to roam free with them? This would be extremely dangerous, folks. more

There were so many exhibits closed! It seems like every thing we walked by they had a sign out in the front saying, "We apologize for the inconvience this exhibit is under construction." I was a little dissappointed that there were no lions, no rhinos, no monkeys or gorillas, and no polar bears. They had a butterfly exhibit but that... more

I have been to quite a few zoos in my lifetime, including San Diego, Wild Animal Park, Cleveland. And I have a great love and appreciation for all creatures and would hope they have a chance at a life treated humanely. Zoos are never ideal for all animals because their space will most likely be limited or the vegetation and... more

As previous reviews suggest, the animals ARE in small enclosures, which is why you can really see them well. I thought the zoo was a very nice experience for the humans though. There's plenty of shade and places to get a snack. The zoo is doable in 2-3 hours. The highlights for me were the giant anteater (I don't think... more

This zoo is one of the worst I have visited. All of the animals had such a small limited space, and I felt sypathy for them. The bald eagles, although they have a touching story about how they were rescued and ended up at this zoo, they looked so very misserable. I was not impressed by any of the animal... more

This zoo was so terribly sad. The animals are kept in very small spaces and in some cases there is limited vegetation and shade. The giraffes only have a few trees to munch on and considering their size, their pen is very small. The elephants were the worst - their outdoor area has no vegetation and they wore chains on... more

This is such a nice small zoo. We went there July 2nd with my son and his wife and our one year old grand- daughter. The price was so cheap. All five of us were under $50 and parking is free. There is plenty of parking too. Although it was only about 80 degrees that day, you do get hot... more

We drove from Boston with our 3 yr old and 1 yr old, and it was a great day trip. Get there early, as noted in other reviews, the parking lot fills up. It's nice that the zoo is sort of set up in a large oval, so you can spend 2-3 hrs walking through the whole zoo and not... more

The Roger Williams Park Zoo is the third oldest zoo in the country, one of the best in New England and the only one in Rhode Island. Situated within beautiful Roger Williams Park, the zoo is home to about 1000 animals on 40 acres. It is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and participates in the reciprocity program... more

We stopped off at Roger Williams Zoo on a return trip from Washington D.C. It was fairly clean although some facilities (e.g. bathrooms) could use updates. Our kids are 8 & 11 and were interested in the animals and some exhibits. It was their only chance in New England to see elephants, giraffes and an indoor habitat with small monkeys... more
